Testing AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently attracting much interest through the use of Generative AI. These are a group of algorithms, but because they are algorithms they should be tested in several different ways before users can interact with them.
Software Testing
This should take place during the software development process, before the AI solution is completed, to ensure that what is delivered functions correctly according to the project roadmap.
Numerical Testing
Because all algorithms generate data when executed, numerical testing is appropriate for AI algorithms. The data will be extracted from AI prototype performance in an initial field trial. A field trial should designed to be as close as possible to what users will experience. Data analysts will not interact directly with any users. They will just evaluate the performance of the prototype. They will need to decide what metrics are most appropriate for this evaluation.
User Experience Testing
What is user experience testing? This involves testing with volunteers interacting with the AI prototype directly, using it in a manner very similar to the final product. User experience will be recorded through qualitative data gathering, and may include questionnaires, user diaries or interviews.
Testing For Decision Making
Only once information has been gathered from multiple sources of testing will product managers, project managers and other decision makers know that the AI product can operate reliably when released to its target users. This focus on testing should safeguard against complaints and/or litigation in the future.

How Coevolve IT Can Help
Coevolve IT has the experience of software testing during software projects. We can support the data analytics you need for numerical testing. User experience testing is something we are familiar with, having carried it out in several contexts. We can carry out business research to design a scenario tailored to your interests. In addition, we can advise how your testing procedure will lead to a responsible AI product. Throughout, we will interact with all the stakeholders in your organisation that need to be informed and who will be involved in decision making.
